Diagnostic testing

Male Hormone Panel (MHP)

When energy drops, body composition changes, or motivation fades, hormones are often part of the equation.

The Male Hormone Panel is a saliva-based test measuring key male hormones, including testosterone and estradiol, and the ratios between them that influence metabolic health and vitality.

It is especially helpful for identifying imbalances linked to low energy, reduced muscle mass, mood changes, and weight gain, and for showing how hormonal shifts may be affecting performance and recovery.

What it measures

Inside the MHP

  • Testosterone

The free, bioavailable fraction rather than total.

  • Estradiol

Relevant in men, and often overlooked when only testosterone is checked.

  • Testosterone to estradiol ratio

Frequently more informative than either value alone.

  • DHEA-S and cortisol

Adrenal context, since stress physiology affects male hormones directly.

Who this test is for

It may be a fit if you are experiencing

  • Low energy or persistent fatigue
  • Reduced libido or sexual health concerns
  • Difficulty building or maintaining muscle
  • Increased body fat, particularly around the middle
  • Brain fog, poor concentration, or reduced motivation
  • Poor recovery after training
  • Mood changes or irritability

Why saliva

What saliva shows that a single blood draw cannot

Saliva measures the free, bioavailable fraction, which is the portion available to your tissues. For men, the relationship between testosterone, estradiol, and cortisol often explains more than a single total testosterone number.

The lab we use has been trusted for decades by our pharmacist and master of holistic medicine, particularly for complex hormone cases. The methodology is well established, reproducible, and clinically actionable.

How results are used at LivBTR

Your results are never read in isolation

They are interpreted alongside your intake, symptoms, lifestyle, nutrition, movement, and any other findings. From there we build a personalized support plan.

  • Training and recovery programming matched to your physiology
  • Nutrition guidance for body composition
  • Sleep and stress strategies
  • Supplement protocols when appropriate
  • Context for a physician conversation about testosterone therapy

Results inform lifestyle and wellness planning. Any decision about treatment is made independently by a licensed physician or nurse practitioner.

Male Hormone Panel questions

Is this a medical diagnosis?

No. It is a functional assessment giving insight into hormone patterns. It does not diagnose disease and does not replace care from a licensed practitioner.

How is the test collected?

Saliva samples collected at home, no blood draw required.

Can this explain changes in weight or muscle mass?

It can provide context. Hormonal shifts affect how readily you build and keep muscle, where fat is stored, and how well you recover from training.

Is this useful as men age?

Yes. Hormones change gradually with age, and a measured pattern is more useful than assuming that feeling worse is simply getting older.

Will this tell me if I need testosterone therapy?

No. That is a clinical decision made by a licensed physician after their own assessment. This gives context for that conversation.

Do medications or supplements affect results?

Some do. You will receive clear instructions before collecting.

If you are not performing or recovering the way you used to, this panel helps show whether hormones are part of the reason.

Understand the pattern before deciding on treatment.
