What we collect

When you complete a quiz on this site, we collect two separate categories of information.

• Contact details: your name, email address, and province.
• Your quiz responses: the symptoms and circumstances you tell us about.
• Technical information: how you arrived at the site, and timestamps.

Consent comes first

We ask for your explicit consent before the first question, not at the end. You are shown exactly what you are agreeing to, and we store that wording alongside your record so it is clear later what was agreed and when.

You can decline and still use the rest of the site.

How your information is protected

Your name, email, and quiz responses are encrypted before they are written to our database, using a separate encryption key for each record. Anyone obtaining a copy of the database or a backup would find unreadable ciphertext.

Within LivBTR, only members of the care team can view your responses, and every view is recorded in an audit log showing who accessed the record and when. Staff working on marketing and reporting see aggregate information such as province and how far people progress, never your name, email, or answers.

Where your information is stored

Your information is stored in Canada. It is not transferred outside Canada for storage.

We deliberately do not send your quiz responses to third-party analytics services. Website analytics record page visits and coarse milestones only.

When we share your information

LivBTR and Border Medical are separate companies. Your quiz answers are not sent to Border Medical automatically.

If you decide to go ahead with a medical assessment, we pass your answers to Border Medical so the clinician does not have to ask you everything a second time. We ask you to agree to that before the first question, and you can decline and still talk to us.

From that point Border Medical is the custodian of the copy they hold. It forms part of the medical record they keep for you and is governed by the rules that apply to medical records in your province. Border Pharmacy receives only what it needs to fill a prescription, and only if one is issued.

How long we keep it

Completed submissions are retained for 24 months from your last interaction with us. Abandoned quizzes, where no contact details were provided, are retained for 90 days. After that, records are destroyed.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA and the applicable provincial legislation, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for corrections, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete your information.

When we delete your information we destroy the encryption key for your record. This makes the data permanently unreadable, including in any backup taken before your request. We cannot recover it afterwards, and neither can anyone else.

That covers the copy LivBTR holds. If your answers have already gone to Border Medical, their copy is part of a medical record and is kept for as long as the rules in your province require. Deleting your LivBTR record does not reach it, so to ask about that copy you need to contact Border Medical directly.
