Diagnostic testing

Heavy Metals Test (HM)

When symptoms persist and nothing seems to explain why, hidden toxic exposure may be part of the picture.

The Heavy Metals Test is a saliva-based assessment evaluating exposure to toxic metals, and imbalances in essential elements, that can interfere with hormonal, neurological, and metabolic function.

It is particularly useful for identifying hidden environmental stressors that may contribute to fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, and weight loss resistance, and for clarifying whether toxic burden is affecting your overall resilience.

What it measures

Inside the HM

  • Toxic metals

Including mercury, lead, cadmium, and arsenic.

  • Essential elements

Minerals your body needs, where imbalance itself causes symptoms.

  • Ratios between them

Toxic metals can displace essential minerals, and the relationship matters.

Who this test is for

It may be a fit if you are experiencing

  • Persistent fatigue with no clear explanation
  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
  • Ongoing inflammation
  • Weight loss resistance
  • Occupational or environmental exposure history
  • Symptoms that have not responded to other approaches

Why saliva

What saliva shows that a single blood draw cannot

Saliva collection is non-invasive and can be done at home, which makes it practical for a screening assessment. It gives a picture of burden and mineral balance that can be acted on within a wellness framework.

The lab we use has been trusted for decades by our pharmacist and master of holistic medicine, particularly for complex hormone cases. The methodology is well established, reproducible, and clinically actionable.

How results are used at LivBTR

Your results are never read in isolation

They are interpreted alongside your intake, symptoms, lifestyle, nutrition, movement, and any other findings. From there we build a personalized support plan.

  • Identifying and reducing ongoing sources of exposure
  • Nutrition to support natural elimination pathways
  • Mineral repletion where imbalances show up
  • Supplement protocols when appropriate
  • Referral to a licensed practitioner where medical evaluation is warranted

Results guide lifestyle and nutrition support. Where clinically significant exposure is suggested, we encourage you to consult a licensed medical practitioner.

Heavy Metals Test questions

Is this a medical diagnosis?

No. It is a functional assessment for wellness support and education. It does not diagnose heavy metal toxicity, which is a medical determination.

How is the test collected?

A saliva sample collected at home using the provided kit.

Can heavy metals affect hormones or weight?

They can. Toxic metals interfere with enzyme function, thyroid activity, and mitochondrial energy production, all of which influence hormones and metabolism.

Does everyone have some level of toxic metals?

Yes. Some exposure is unavoidable in modern life. What matters is the level relative to your mineral status and whether it aligns with your symptoms.

Will this tell me I need a detox?

No. We do not sell detoxes on the basis of a test result. Results inform practical steps around exposure, nutrition, and mineral balance.

Can supplements or medications affect results?

Some can. You will receive preparation instructions before collecting.

If you have worked through the obvious explanations and still feel unwell, this helps rule a hidden contributor in or out.

It is a screening assessment, and the result is a starting point.
